Boxing News: The team for Oleksandr Usyk has refuted Martin Bakole’s claims that he stopped the undisputed world champion during a sparring session.
On Saturday, Bakole revealed during the fight night coverage on Sky Sports that he had stopped Usyk during a sparring session in Dubai and didn’t think the Ukrainian would agree to grant him a title shot because of this.
In response to Bakole’s assertions, Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk informed Sky Sports that the circumstances were really flipped and that his boxer had nearly caused a knockout.
Even Usyk, according to Bakole, “I don’t think he’d say yes (to fighting me),” because I defeated him in a sparring match in Dubai.
“He is aware of my abilities. I’m not sure if he’ll agree to fight me again.
“I’m being honest with you.
“No justifications this year. I am now prepared to deal with anyone.”
Usyk’s “best” sparring partner over his last three training camps, according to Krassyuk, but he denied any indication that the champion was in difficulty.
Krassyuk praised Bakole as a wonderful young man. “For the last three training camps, he was Usyk’s finest sparring partner.
“Nevertheless, I only heard him stop Usyk once when he was about to knock out Bakole.”
Bakole challenges Dubois, saying, “I would beat him in the first or second round.”
Bakole, who last competed in May 2022 and defeated French Olympic champion Tony Yoka from the opponent’s corner, has moved up to number two in the WBA rankings and is seeking to chart his course to success in boxing’s high-profile division.
The 29-year-old also called out Britain’s WBA “regular” champion Daniel Dubois, who is presented first in line to meet Usyk, the undisputed champion of the WBA, WBO, and IBF, in the event that a fight between the Ukrainian and WBC champion Tyson Fury is called off.
In December, after being knocked down three times in the opening round and suffering ruptured knee ligaments in the process, Dubois overcame a serious obstacle to defeat Kevin Lerena.
Dubois is anticipated to be out until the summer due to the injury, but Bakole still seems eager to wait for the fight and has once again given some stunning descriptions of sparring.
