Boxing News: After being detained in Fort Lauderdale following his arrest on Tuesday, Gervonta Davis is slated to appear in court on Wednesday. On January 7, Davis will face Hector Luis Garcia.
According to Broward County Sheriff’s Office records, Gervonta Davis was detained on Tuesday in Parkland, Florida on a charge of battery resulting in bodily harm stemming from domestic abuse.
The former world champion is due to appear in court later today while still being held in jail in Fort Lauderdale.
Although Davis’ arrest and the allegations against him are still under wraps, TMZ has published a picture of the boxer who is rumoured to have been taken into custody.
On January 7, the 28-year-old, who is one of the biggest names in American boxing, will take on Hector Luis Garcia in Washington.
In a highly anticipated matchup in April, Davis, who has triumphed in all 27 of his professional fights, was scheduled to take on fellow undefeated boxer Ryan Garcia.
Following a February 2020 incident in which footage purportedly showed him grabbing his ex-girlfriend by the throat at a charity basketball game, the Baltimore boxer already faced two misdemeanour violence charges.
For his suspected involvement in a separate hit-and-run incident in November 2020, Davis is also scheduled to appear in court in February.
