Boxing News: Scotland’s Nick Campbell and England’s Steve Robinson will square off on Saturday night’s Chris Billam-Smith vs. Armend Xhoxhaj card in Bournemouth.
Both guys stand six feet seven inches tall, and Nick Campbell is aware that Robinson poses a threat.
“He probably didn’t need to pick a fight, and I probably didn’t need to pick a fight either. But ultimately, you have to give the viewers 50-50 fights if you’re going to be on a platform like Sky Sports. It’s a terrific challenge for both of us, in my opinion. The winner gets everything.”
At this point in their careers, losing would be a severe setback for either guy.
“I’m here to win by all means necessary, no matter what it takes. Whether it means a points decision, it is a points decision, whether that means a halt, it is a stoppage, “Sky Sports was told by Campbell.
“Whatever it takes, I’m coming for any eventuality.”
Despite Robinson’s disappointing loss to Shane Gill earlier this year, Campbell won’t let himself get too confident.
If you approach the game with the appropriate strategy, “I think anybody’s beatable,” he declared. “Shane Gill broke Steve’s flow by being tough, stepping forward, and trying. What is, is what is.
“Because that happened months ago, the big guy has had plenty of time to think about it, and I’m sure he’s adjusted things in camp, so I try not to read too much into it. On Saturday night, I’m anticipating the greatest Steve Robinson.
“Everyone at heavyweight has a fighting chance. From the first bell to the last bell, and from the first punch to the last punch, you must be engaged.”
Despite having a perfect 5-0 record and being the first Scottish heavyweight champion in 71 years, Campbell received criticism when he occasionally found it difficult to defeat Jay MacFarlane in his most recent contest.
“After that battle, I felt like I received some unjust opinions, therefore on Saturday night, I hope to disprove a lot of people. prove my worth where it’s required,” he said.
