Boxing Fight: As negotiations to determine who will face off against WBC champion Tyson Fury next continue, Frank Sanchez is prepared to fight Fury “anywhere in the world.”
Since stopping Derek Chisora in December, Fury has not defended his championship. This week, WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman was scheduled to discuss possible opponents with the British star’s UK promoter Frank Warren.
The WBC’s top two contenders, Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr. have been unable to agree on a final eliminator, while Anthony Joshua, rated third, has begun negotiations for a matchup with Dillian Whyte.
However, Sanchez, who is ranked fourth, maybe up next to take on Fury.
Mike Borao, the Cuban’s co-manager, reaffirmed what Frank Sanchez had previously stated: “He is willing to fight Tyson Fury at a moment’s notice in the US, UK, or anywhere in the world.”
“Mandatory laws were developed for fighters like Frank who champions stay away from. In the event if Tyson Fury chose to take on Frank, I wouldn’t be too astonished.”
Working with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s trainer, Sanchez has an undefeated 22-fight record with 15 stoppages.
“Frank Sanchez, who is coached by the top coach in the world, Eddy Reynoso, is the best heavyweight in the world, in my view,” according to Borao.
“Tyson probably believes there are easier fights out there because they are less risky, but I’m hoping he proves me wrong.”
In the WBC rankings, Arslanbek Makhmudov is barely behind Sanchez.
But the deadly Canadian fighter’s promoter, Camille Estephan, says that he is only preparing for his July 1 match against Raphael Akpejiori.
Tyson Fury has already stated that he does not want to face Arslanbek, therefore that is what Estephan informed Sky Sports they are focusing on right now. Arslanbek is fighting on July 1.
“We’ve been willing to fight Tyson Fury for a while.
“For the first time ever, we are engaged in combat on July 1. We want to focus solely on that battle and not look ahead past July 1.”
