Latest Boxing News: Kell Brook is poised to meet Chris Eubank Jr. in a “major fight” this summer, but promoter Ben-Shalom is still “working out” the appropriate weight for a British bout.
Brook put an end to his long-running dispute with Amir Khan in February by delivering a stunning stoppage at the Manchester Arena. After the win, the 35-year-old stated that retirement was an option, but Shalom has verified that the Sheffield boxer is strongly considering returning to the ring.
While both Brook and Eubank Jr have shown a desire in fighting again in the United Kingdom, the need to establish a weight that is acceptable to all camps may force the boxers to pursue other options.
Shalom told Sky Sports News, “He (Brook) wants to fight in June or July.” “It’s going to be a tough battle. We’ll figure something out.
“Eubank appears to want to fight Kell Brook. We’ll get down with Kell and figure out the weight, see if we can get there, and see if it’s right for him.
“Chris also potentially has a world title opportunity that could come in June-July. So both of them have options and I expect to get to the bottom of it in the next week or so.”
