Rohit Sharma, MI’s captain, will have extra reason to celebrate when his team plays the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium. On Sunday, The Hitman will mark both his birthday and ten years as manager of the Mumbai Indians. The head coach of the Mumbai Indians, Mark Boucher, mentioned how he has always been a fan of Rohit Sharma before the match between the two former tournament champions.
“He has been fantastic. When Rohit was batting, I used to enjoy watching him, sometimes even from behind the stumps. I’ve played a little cricket with him and have seen him develop into a good leader as well as a superb cricketer. It will be pleasant for him. It’s also his birthday, so it’s a significant occasion for him,” Boucher remarked.
The team was pleased with their captain’s performance, according to Boucher. Rohit’s role has been to go hard in the Powerplay, which he has done effectively so far, with a strong and deep batting lineup.
“Rohit seems to be in good shape. He has been striking the ball into the nets quite well. He recently provided us with some strong runs. He is playing cricket in a terrific, aggressive manner. He has so far played the part in this season that we have required him to play. Rohit can be deadly for any opposition if he plays as aggressively as he has in the past,” according to Boucher.
Jofra Archer, a pacer, is healthy and available for selection, according to Boucher. He also supported Archer’s ability to bowl well at the end, which has occasionally been an issue for the five-time champions.
“We’re all aware of Jofra’s abilities. He’s been a great bowler for a long time. He gives our attack a new dimension and, obviously, some nice pace. He is capable of bowling both with the fresh ball and at the end. He can potentially fill that position for us by bowling in such situations, as it has been a situation (death bowling) where we have battled a little,” Boucher said.
