Top 3 Batsmen: In a tumultuous career, Mohammad Amir has played 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 50 T20Is for Pakistan. After stating that team management “mentally tortured” him, the left-arm seamer resigned from international cricket in 2020.
Amir, who bowled a magnificent 3/16 against arch-rivals India in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, has listed three hitters and three bowlers among the current international cricket stars that he admires.
Amir praised Virat Kohli and Babar Azam at a Q&A session on his YouTube channel on Sunday, while forecasting a bright future for Shubman Gill.
“Aside from T20s, my favourite players are Virat [Kohli] and Babar [Azam. In Tests and ODIs, he is my favourite. Finally, Shubman Gill, who I believe will be India’s next great thing if he maintains his present form,” Amir remarked.
Amir then ranked his three favourite bowlers, with Trent Boult of New Zealand topping the list. Naseem Shah, a 20-year-old Pakistani pacer, was ranked second in Amir’s rankings, while Mitchell Starc was ranked third.
“[Trent] Boult is my number one, followed by Naseem Shah. These are bowlers who, in my opinion, are complete bowlers who can play in all forms. Mitchell Starc comes in third,” he adds.
Pakistan will finish in the top four in the ODI World Cup in 2023: Mohammad Amir
Mohammad Amir is sure that Pakistan would perform well in the next One-Day International World Cup, which will be hosted entirely in India for the first time. The 31-year-old urged Babar Azam’s squad to reach the showcase event semifinals, urging opposing teams not to overlook the past champions in Asian circumstances.
“Pakistan will be in the top four, and you can’t write them off in Asian conditions,” he predicts.
Amir also anticipated an India-Pakistan final and listed Mickey Arthur as his favourite coach, praising the South African for his effect on him while he was the coach of Pakistan.
