Sourav Ganguly, the former president of the BCCI and the head of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), spoke out against the wrestlers’ protest in New Delhi. Notably, Ganguly is the first member of the cricketing community to publicly express his views on the matter.
For those who are unaware, prominent Indian wrestlers have been demonstrating in Delhi over the past few days. It comes as a result of the lack of action taken against Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, the leader of the nation’s wrestling organisation, who has been accused of sexual harassment. Sourav Ganguly, a former cricket player, commented on the situation in Delhi despite having little awareness of it and expressing his desire for it to be resolved as soon as possible.
“Let them wage their own war. I only read the news to keep up with what’s going on there. I learned in the world of sports that you don’t talk about topics you don’t fully understand. I, therefore, hope that is resolved. The wrestlers have excelled at international competitions and brought honour to the nation,” It should be resolved, Ganguly said, according to PTI.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is still looking into the allegations and has not yet issued a formal statement on the matter. In addition, the government-established oversight body has not yet released its conclusions.
Delhi Capitals, led by Sourav Ganguly, are languishing at the bottom of the IPL points standings.
Currently serving as Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals (DC), the former president of the BCCI is in charge. The team captained by David Warner, on the other hand, has struggled and is presently ranked last in the IPL Points Table.
Delhi, which is ranked in 10th place, has only accrued six points from its nine games thanks to its three victories during the previous four contests. On Saturday, May 6, David Warner and company will play Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
