The Game
The head coach of Manchester City said about the performance.
“After the Champions League, it’s always tough,” he said to BT Sport.
“The players who didn’t play in Paris spoke on the grass and they did it perfectly,” he said in praise of his squad.
“In the first half, of course you need some time but, in the second half, we were perfect, the way we attacked them and the quality of the players made the difference,” he talked about the game.
“In the first half, we struggled a little bit, but that is normal and you can be impatient, but in the second half they were really perfect,” he elaborated.
“The grass was slow, you couldn’t play with much rhythm and the players needed to attack the space with not so many passes,” he rationalized.
Premier League
After this win, Pep Guardiola’s squad are just a step away from winning the Premier League title.
The Citizens currently lead 13 points over Manchester United, who are second in the race for the championship title.
“We can start to think about it,” he said, when asked about City winning the domestic top-flight. We can start to put the champagne in the fridge.”
On tomorrow’s game, Pep said, “I’ll take a look.”
Aguero
Pep said about the goal scorer of the match, Sergio Aguero: “What a goal, what an action, what a player, what a man.”
“He’s going to enjoy the last games with him,” he said. “He showed with his goal what he has been and what he is. I’m in love as a person as he’s an incredible guy. In those circumstances, players with less quality than him are sometimes more uncomfortable for us than huge players like him. What a goal.”
“Of course, he’s ready,” said Guardiola, when he was asked if Aguero would play on Thursday. Then, on May 4th, City will host PSG for their second leg of Champions League semi-final tie.
