Fiorentina coach Beppe Iachini highlights their 3-1 win against Lecce last night against the history of Fiorentina being among the most affected by coronavirus just a while ago.
At Lecce they were surgical, scoring all three goals in the first half.
“We prepared for this game in the right manner,” said the coach after his side’s victory. “Unfortunately, no-one remembers that we were among the most affected by a coronavirus.
“We had several players in bed and not at home. Therefore, it’s normal that we may have suffered more than the others.”
Indeed, Patrick Cutrone, German Pezzella, Dusan Vlahovic and even Iachini himself were among those in Viola who tested COVID-19 positively before the restart (via).
Actually, Fiorentina had won just one of their six games after the restart, but not from lack of effort:
“In six games, we created a lot and hit the woodwork five times. They could’ve given us the extra points that this team deserve to have.”
