Harry Kane admits the bar needs to be raised at Tottenham Hotspur. The club has the image that no prize is ever won, but Kane is motivated precisely by that.
Tottenham ‘losing click with fans’: “Standards have dropped”
Tottenham need a miracle to qualify for the Champions League. The club has dropped many points and is therefore sixth. “We have to find a way to be more stable, also because the Premier League is getting stronger every year,” Kane told beIN Sports. “We know that it has to be better, that starts with closing this season as well as possible. On the field we do everything to win, but I feel that we have also lost a bit of the click with the fans. We need to get those back. The standards have dropped somewhat and they should be raised.”
Kane is known as a top European striker, but has never won a trophy with Tottenham. He admitted, “You always have to fight to win prizes. That’s one of the things I haven’t achieved yet. But I feel good and don’t panic. There is still plenty of time to get that done. I get hungrier every year to win trophies and hope to help the team with goals.”
Whether Kane is still under contract after this season is currently the question. The Englishman only has a contract until 2024 and is in the interest of Bayern Munich and Manchester United, the latter being the most concrete.
Clear message for interested parties: “Bale no longer wants to play football”
Speaking of Tottenham, newly promoted team Wrexham hoped to celebrate its return to the English Football League with the arrival of Gareth Bale, but the Welsh club cannot count on the retired footballer. Bale is not going to change his future plans for the soon to be League Two side.
Wrexham forced promotion to League Two last month, returning to England’s fourth tier after fifteen years. The ball around Bale got rolling by the attacker himself, who congratulated the club on the promotion from the golf course. Club owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds eagerly jumped on that with a charm offensive, but to no avail.
“Bale has a great life at the moment and he deserves it,” agent Jonathan Barnett told Sky Sports. “They didn’t speak to me, maybe they talked to Gareth himself, but Gareth doesn’t want to play football anymore. He’s had a great career, but now he’s with his family and that’s the most important thing. He has become a different person.”
Bale said goodbye to football in January, at that time he played half a year in America for Los Angeles FC. Bale previously played for Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton.
