Newcastle’s Yankuba Minteh signs with Feyenoord. The eighteen-year-old wing attacker is on loan from Newcastle United for a season. The Rotterdammers announced that news to the world on Monday evening.
Feyenoord shops in England twice on the same day
Minteh has been bought by Newcastle from Odense BK for an amount that would be around 7 million euros, if you believe the English press. Manager Eddie Howe does not see any added value in the Gambian for his first team and has therefore decided to let him mature for a year with the champion of the Eredivisie.
Minteh, Feyenoord has announced, will join the main force of the team in preparation. The draw for the Champions League could also link his temporary and permanent employer: Feyenoord has known since Saturday that it will end up in the first pot during the draw at the end of August, while The Magpies will end up in the third or fourth pot.
The acquisition has also responded to his transition, on the club website he says the following. He said, “I am eager to compete for the defending champs. Wearing the Feyenoord jersey is an honour. I am appreciative of the chance, and I’ll do all in my power to become a better football player. As certain as I am that I can aid Feyenoord in its sporting endeavours, I am certain that they will assist me in achieving my aims.”
Feyenoord takes Belgian defender from Brighton & Hove Albion youth academy
Feyenoord has taken over Antef Tsoungui from Brighton & Hove Albion. The Belgian defender has signed a contract for two seasons with the option for another year with the Dutch champions.
Twenty-year-old Tsoungui grew up in England as a child and went through the youth academy at Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion. This season, the Belgian was briefly loaned to Lommel SK, where he played five official matches in a month and a half.
At Feyenoord, Tsoungui is not expected to immediately qualify for the main squad. Mark Ruijl, Head of Scouting at the Rotterdam club, says on the club website about the defender who can play in both positions in the centre of the back: “In the upcoming years, we will support him vigorously in his development and also map out the right course in consultation with him.”
The Belgian is thrilled to have made it to Feyenoord. “It should go without saying that I am really happy to join a team that has a fantastic history, plays in a fantastic stadium, and has passionate fans. I want to prove myself to everyone,” he responds.
