Mathijs Tielemans will sign a contract with Vitesse until mid-2026. The PSV player has verbally agreed with the team from Arnhem and will undergo a medical examination on Monday.
Vitesse takes over midfielder Tielemans from PSV
Then 21-year-old Tielemans also signs the contract. Vitesse saw Tielemans excel in PSV’s U23 team last season. Based on data and statistics, the midfielder was included in the team of the season in the Kitchen Champion Division.
A breakthrough in PSV 1 was not possible for the player born in Veldhoven, he was not even given a substitute. He did, however, belong to the match selection of the first team a number of times. His contract with PSV expired, he did not like an offer to extend his contract, so he switched transfer-free. Tielemans, good for 77 matches and eight goals and eight assists for Jong PSV, was determined to make playing minutes in the Eredivisie.
Vitesse trumps AZ and Utrecht, among others, and the English Wolverhampton Wanderers also targeted Tielemans. The number of players with a PSV past in Arnhem is increasing again with Tielemans. Marco van Ginkel, Davy Pröpper and Nicolas Isimit-Mirin already came to Vitesse during the winter break, where former PSV players are already on the staff with Phillip Cocu and Chris van der Weerden. This week, former Vitesse goalkeeper Raimond van der Gouw also joined.
Vitesse waved two midfielders out with Matus Bero and Sondre Tronstad (to Blackburn Rovers). Mark Diemers is another candidate to strengthen the midfield in Arnhem.
Marciano signs with new club after leaving Feyenoord
Ofir Marciano continues his career at Hapoel Be’er Sheva. The 33-year-old goalkeeper comes over on a free transfer from Feyenoord, where he has been a stand-in for Justin Bijlow for the past two seasons. Marciano signs for three seasons with the club from his homeland Israel.
Feyenoord picked up Marciano in the summer of 2021 from Scottish club Hibernian. Due to injuries suffered by Bijlow, the experienced closing post had to fill in at Feyenoord several times. In total, he played twenty games in his first season, including the quarterfinals and semifinals of the Conference League.
At the time of the final against AS Roma, Bijlow was fit again and Marciano took a seat on the bench. The following summer, Feyenoord signed Timon Wellenreuther, making Marciano third-choice. Last season he did not play minutes in the first team.
“I never thought that my arrival at Feyenoord would lead to so many sporting highlights. Beautiful memories and fond friendships,” Marciano said on the club website. “I am proud to have been part of Feyenoord’s success story in recent seasons. I look back on a wonderful time in Rotterdam and would like to thank the club and supporters.”
