Golf News: Despite missing the 150th Open in July, Tommy Fleetwood made up for it on Wednesday at the Old Course with a once-in-a-lifetime stroke.
In preparation for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, Fleetwood played a practice round at St. Andrews. When the 31-year-old Englishman reached the 17th hole, also referred to as the “Road Hole,” he had to hit a difficult chip shot onto the road’s kerb.
Tommy Fleetwood chipped onto the green with a small audience gathered nearby, rolled into his practise partner’s ball, and simultaneously put BOTH balls into the hole – a two-for-one deal!

Fleetwood’s playing partner didn’t mark his ball because it was a practice round; instead, he simply left it, which created the ideal conditions for an astounding outcome.
Unfortunately for the other player, this outcome would not have been valid in a competitive round. The other ball would be put back where it was before being knocked in, but Fleetwood’s hole-out would be legal and there would be no consequences for either player.
The video was tweeted by Fleetwood on Wednesday with the message, “St Andrews is a magical place!!” Since then, 1.6 million people have watched it, and counting.
