Nedbank Golf Challenge: Tommy Fleetwood completed a thrilling title defence at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa, snapping a three-year winless streak on the DP World Tour.
At Gary Player Country Club in Sun City, where the final round was postponed for more than three hours due to thunderstorms, Fleetwood overcame a three-stroke deficit during a protracted Sunday by combining an eagle, four birdies, and a single bogey to shoot a five-under 66.
The Englishman finished the week with 11 under par, one shot better than playing partner Ryan Fox, who bogeyed the last hole and lost the chance to pass Rory McIlroy atop the DP World Tour standings for the entire season.

With the previous two editions of the event being postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Fleetwood’s victory gave him his sixth DP World Tour title and first since winning the same event in 2019. His victory also moves him up to fourth in the standings going into the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.
Fleetwood remarked, “This week has been fantastic. “This [victory] really added to it,” the winner said. “I already had so many incredible memories with this place and felt like I had such a tremendous connection to it.”
He expressed excitement for the DP World Tour Championship by saying: “I think everyone on the tour always has the ambition of making it to the last event of the year. That remains constant. I’m quite eager to play.
“It’s always fantastic if you can get in shape as the year comes to a close. I’ve seen it many times when you’re at the end of the year and you’ve played so much that you’re exhausted and knackered and you just barely make it through these weeks, which can really make or break the year,” he added.
When you feel like you can keep going at the end of the year, you’re playing well, and you have a chance in these major competitions, it’s a fantastic feeling. I send my warmest wishes to the men leading the Race to Dubai.
Just take in this one for the time being; I’ll be going there to see what we can do.
