LPGA Tour: Jodi Ewart Shadoff increased her lead to four strokes at the halfway point of the LPGA Mediheal Championship, boosting her chances of claiming a long-awaited first LPGA Tour triumph.
The Englishwoman improved on her opening-round score of 64 by shooting a three-under 69 on Friday at the Saticoy Club in California. She combined six birdies with three bogeys to reach 11 under and lead the closest rival Paula Reto by a significant margin.
With three birdies in her first four holes of her second round, Ewart Shadoff got off to the best possible start. She then increased her lead when she took advantage of the par-five sixth hole, made up for a bogey at the following hole with a shot at the par-three ninth, and finished the round in 32.

After making a bogey at the par-three 13th, the Englishwoman recovered by birdying the following par-five to get back to 12 under, but she then bogeyed her penultimate hole in worse wind conditions, erasing her 36-hole lead.
Ewart Shadoff, who is attempting to become the second English champion on the LPGA Tour in as many weeks following Charley Hull’s triumph at The Ascendant LPGA, stated, “I feel extremely fantastic.”
“I feel tremendously in control of my game and I’m playing really consistently. Simply sticking to my programme, making some excellent shots, and making all of my putts seem to be working so far.
Stephanie Meadow of Northern Ireland, who shot a second-round score of 70, is in a group of seven players at six under par. Reto shot a two-under 70 to take sole possession of second place ahead of this group.
Before making two bogeys on her final six holes, Meadow was five strokes behind the leader. Pauline Roussin, Eun-Hee Ji, Haeji Kang, Xiyu Lin, Ruixin Liu, and Gaby Lopez were all in a tie for third.
Georgia Hall, who shot a fourth-round 68 to move to five under, is also in the top 10, while Gemma Dryburgh, of Scotland, is tied for 34th after shooting a second-round 73 and dropping seven spots off the lead.
