LPGA Tour: Paula Reto won the CP Women’s Open in Canada by one stroke after holding off a late push from Nelly Korda to win her first LPGA Tour title.
The South African finished the week on 19 under par, one shot ahead of Korda and Hye-Jin Choi of South Korea. He scored back-to-back 67s over the weekend at Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club.
Reto became just the fourth South African winner on the LPGA Tour after birdying two of her first three holes and adding three more over the course of a four-hole stretch beginning at the sixth to reach the turn in 30.

“I’m really, really excited and just proud of myself for being able to stick through the shots and the routines,” Reto said. “Sometimes, I find that’s really hard to do, especially if you know you have only a few holes left.
“I was trying not to watch the leaderboard. I sort of knew where the girls in my group were, so I was just trying to make sure I stayed with them or maybe one or two ahead. That was the only thing I could control. You can’t do too much.”
Early on in her back nine, Korda went birdie-eagle. She then recovered from a bogey on the 14th with back-to-back birdies over the next two holes, but she was unable to produce a birdie on the par-five last hole to force a playoff.
“I think I had a decent shot at it,” said Korda, who could have returned to world No 1 with a win. “I played good golf. Honestly, I’m just grateful that I am playing golf and I’m out here – I’m enjoying every second of it.”
The highest-finishing European in the competition was Carlota Ciganda, who shared 13th place after shooting a 63 to finish fourth at 17 under.
