Tennis News: Andy Murray acknowledges that it is “concerning” that sweat testing did not reveal the root of his cramping problems before the US Open.
The 35-year-old has experienced cramps in three previous matches, including his loss to Cameron Norrie in Cincinnati last week, as a result of the recent hot and humid weather.
Sweat tests to identify a cause were negative, thus the precise explanation is still a mystery.
“It was all good,” he said. “Sweat test was good. A blood test was good. No illnesses.”
The No. 47-ranked player from 2012, who won the US Open, will enter this year’s competition without a seed and will face Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo, the tournament’s 24th seed, in the first round.
The Scotsman is not sure what has been causing his current issues, but he is hopeful he will be ready to compete at the tournament where he broke his Grand Slam duck ten years ago. That match will take place on Monday at Louis Armstrong Stadium
“I think it would be nice if you were one thing, you were deficient in something, maybe it is because of that,” he said.
