Boxing Live News: Artur Beterbiev has never suffered a defeat in a match.
There have been 19 guys who have attempted to defeat him, including two current world champions, but none have been successful. All of them haven’t even travelled far with him.
Beterbiev stopped Londoner Anthony Yarde in eight rounds following their thrilling world title bout at Wembley Arena on Saturday night, serving as a reminder of just how dangerous he is, even at the age of 38.
He successfully defended his unified WBC, WBO, and IBF light-heavyweight titles, and he is currently preparing for what might be his toughest pro bout yet. When it comes to the fight that would crown the undisputed 175-pound champion, Beterbiev wants to face WBA champion Dmitry Bivol.
“I desire Bivol. It is everything right now. We will compete with four belts in that match. It’s a really excellent battle, in my opinion “After his most recent triumph, Beterbiev declared.
The undisputed champion is certain that he can outperform his weekend performance.
“Every conflict is unique. It is prepared differently. Additionally, the fighter has changed. I won’t say that I fought poorly, but “After his dramatic match with Yarde, he added.
“But I’d do it better if I could do it over again. But I’m feeling fine. I’ll be honest; I was ready for every punch he threw. That is why I was able to return.”
However, Beterbiev’s following opponent might be another British person.
Callum Smith of Liverpool is the required opponent for Beterbiev’s WBC title after defeating Mathieu Bauderlique in an excellent four-round knockout victory last August.
In March, Smith plans to fight as a warm-up before going after the undisputed title.
“I played my part. I’ve now qualified so I can wait and compete for three of the belts,” He spoke to Sky Sports.
Although it will be a battle Smith cannot afford to lose, he wants a respectable opponent for the spring. “It’s got to be an opponent that makes me want to get into camp, makes me want to train hard,” he says.
“It’s a little bit of a challenge. But if I can defeat Beterbiev, which I believe I can, then I should be able to defeat anyone else in the interim, so long as I maintain my composure and drive,” explained Smith.
“I believe I am, and I believe I am enjoying my workouts more. The progress I’m making seems to be something I’m enjoying. I ought to be ok.”
Even though Beterbiev appears to be a dangerous opponent, former super-middleweight champion Smith is confident that he is equipped to defeat him.
Smith asserted, “I think I can defeat anyone on the earth. I think I can take home the belts as well.”
