Boxing News: In a social media statement, Conor Benn reaffirmed his innocence over two failed drug tests as the WBC’s Clean Boxing Programme nears the conclusion of its inquiry into the matter.
Prior to the abrupt cancellation of his October fight against Chris Eubank Jr., Benn admitted to failing the tests in July and September.
The 26-year-old and his team think contamination is to blame for the abnormal tests, and in his first Instagram post since October 6, he made the promise that “the truth will soon come out.”

In his statement, Benn said, “My team and I have worked incredibly hard over the past seven years to make me the fighter I am today. We have never cheated the grind in any manner.”
“It has been very challenging for me to accept that people think I would do what I was accused of doing, but I’ve come to understand that many people, especially those in the boxing community, jump to conclusions before completely knowing the circumstances (and, most disappointingly, even those that know me).”
“My life is boxing. I’ve had challenges in my job before, but nothing like this. I think that adversity comes in different forms in life, and what counts most is how you handle it.”
“My team has established my innocence, and the public will soon learn the truth. I won’t be making any more comments till then out of respect for privacy.”
The female fertility drug clomifene was discovered in Benn’s pee during tests done by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) on July 25 and September 1.
In October, he renounced his British boxing licence after “allegations of wrongdoing” were upheld in a hearing. Additionally, he lost his position as the fifth-ranked welterweight in the WBC rankings.
A further inquiry was launched by the sanctioning body’s Clean Boxing Programme, and according to WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman, a conclusion is anticipated this month.
