WTC Final: The Pat Cummins-led Australia and the Rohit Sharma-led team are now playing in the 2023 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final at The Oval in London. India made a wise choice to bowl first and got off to a strong start by quickly claiming three wickets. However, Australia scored 327 runs on the opening day to derail India’s momentum thanks to a brilliant combination between Travis Head and Steve Smith.
Ramiz Raja, a former Pakistani captain, says that it is challenging to evaluate what the teams must perform in one-off Test matches. He believed that since it takes a team from the subcontinent 5–6 days to acclimatise to cold climates, they had to have played at least intrasquad games prior to such a significant encounter. India would have been acclimated to the circumstances even if they had just played three or four one-day matches, he pointed out.
“One-off Tests make it challenging to gauge your performance. A team must adapt in 5–6 days after arriving from subcontinental circumstances to these chilly climes. Without even engaging in any gaming. I don’t comprehend. India need to have at least played inter-squad games prior to this as it is the WTC Final. You become accustomed to the circumstances even if you have played three or four one-day matches,” Raja explained on his own YouTube account.
Bowlers that play in English conditions must modify their lines and lengths: Ramiz Raja

When playing under English circumstances, he said, bowlers must alter their lengths and lines. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), he said, bowlers are required to bowl 17 overs in a day following four overs.
“The weather is cloudy, and the pitch conditions are really different. Adjustment is what you desire. Here, bowlers must also modify their lines and lengths. You need to bowl 17 overs in a day here after four overs in the IPL,” The former cricket player went on to say that the body needed to relax.
