Peter Bosz was officially presented as the new PSV manager. The former international is the successor to Ruud van Nistelrooij.
PSV announces the arrival of Bosz: “He was the ideal candidate”
The 59-year-old Bosz has signed a contract for three seasons. Technical director Earnest Stewart is very pleased with the arrival of the ex-trainer of Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Olympique Lyonnais, among others. “He was the dream candidate,” said Stewart on the PSV club site.
Bosz, who left Lyon in October last year, is looking forward to his new challenge at PSV. “From the first moment I got a warm feeling. Both PSV and I are hungry to perform. Last season two prizes were won, but our goal is to become national champion. That’s what we’re going for,” explains the new head coach of the Eindhoven team.
“I think the combination between the selection and my way of playing can lead to success. PSV has had periods in the past in which it dominated Dutch football,” said Bosz. “I want to revive those times.”
Stewart: “Together with the players, the head coach is the most important person in the organization. For that reason, and with an eye on the transfer window, we wanted to fill this position quickly. Peter was the ideal candidate, so we are very happy that it worked out.”
Bosz adds two confidants to the PSV technical staff
Peter Bosz takes Rob Maas and Terry Peters to PSV. The 59-year-old trainer also worked with the duo at Olympique Lyon, Bayer Leverkusen and Vitesse.
PSV officially announced Bosz’s appointment as head coach on Monday. It was also announced that Maas (53) – former youth player of PSV and later active for Feyenoord, Heracles Almelo and RKC Waalwijk, among others – and Peters (37) will come to Eindhoven in the wake of the former trainer of Ajax. They will act as assistant coach and performance coach respectively.
What the Bosz technical staff will look like further will be announced later. Last season André Ooijer, Tim Wolf and Javier Rabanal also worked on Nistelrooij’s staff. Ooijer already announced that he would leave after this season because he is ready for a new challenge. The Spaniard Rabanal disappeared from the bench to the stands during the season.
