PSV has strengthened itself with Thorgan Hazard on the last day of the winter transfer window. The 29-year-old winger comes over from Borussia Dortmund on a rental basis and is currently undergoing a medical examination.
Hazard (29), who can play on both flanks, has not played much in Germany this season. He only had a starting place in two Dortmund league matches and did not play in the first matches of this calendar year. PSV benefits from that situation.
Hazard has 47 international matches for Belgium to his name. He was still active at the last World Cup in Qatar. His contract in Dortmund will continue for another year and a half, until mid-2024. Earlier, the names of Adnan Januzaj and Anthony Elanga were associated with PSV, which Fábio Silva has already attracted as an offensive reinforcement.
Patrick van Aanholt loaned in by PSV from Galatasaray
Hazard is not PSV’s only acquisition on the final day of the transfer market, as the club has also brought in Patrick van Aanholt. Patrick van Aanholt is the new left back of PSV. The full-back has been taken over from Galatasaray and brought in as the successor to Philipp Max, who has left for Eintracht Frankfurt. Van Aanholt is initially rented for half a season, but that period can be extended with an extra season.
Frankfurt has rented Max until the end of the season, with an option to buy. With Van Aanholt (29), PSV has now brought in a new left back. For the nineteen-time international, it means a return to Eindhoven: he already played in the PSV youth academy.
Van Aanholt left for Chelsea at a young age, which rented out the full back several times. Between January 2012 and the summer of 2014 he played for Vitesse. Chelsea then sold Van Aanholt to Sunderland and via Crystal Palace the full back ended up in Turkey a year and a half ago.
At Galatasaray, Van Aanholt has not been a basic player in recent weeks. He played 62 games for the club and now returns to the Dutch fields. The 32 year old left-back is also a 19 time international with the Netherlands.
