Former Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo, after getting the sack from the Italian club, could resume his coaching career in Spain. There is a possibility that he may succeed Dutch head coach Ronald Koeman at the helm of Spanish giants Barcelona. Indeed, among rumours of other football transfers, Pirlo is the favourite to replace Koeman as Barcelona manager at Camp Nou.
Just today, we shared the football news that Ronald Koeman may actually profit from Barcelona not extending his contract.
A contract in his clause ensures a huge payout in case Barcelona don’t renew his deal for a further two years.
This was after we first discovered that Barcelona president Joan Laporta has set targets and conditions on his contract renewal.
Pirlo Is the Favourite to Replace Koeman as Barcelona Manager
Now, Gerard Romero has revealed that Barcelona president and chairman Joan Laporta has also already listed Ronald Koeman’s replacement options.
Laporta came up with a list of potential successors of Ronald Koeman’s and Antonio Conte and Xavi are among them.
However, Andrea Pirlo, whose first coaching stint, at Juventus, recently failed, is still the favourite to become Barcelona’s head coach.
Laporta would prefer for him to replace Koeman, who has taken charge of the squad in 2020, at Camp Nou.
Under Koeman’s management Barça have won one domestic cup back in April, and finished third in La Liga 2020-21 season.
However, in that very same, they got eliminated in the Champions League round of 16 last campaign.
And now, the Blaugrana have started a new UCL season with a home 0-3 defeat to Bayern Munich. This loss, on home grounds, no less, has caused disquiet among the fans and the management.
