Tennis News: Controversial Nick Kyrgios, an Australian tennis player, has made a suggestion that he will retire early in order to spend more time with his family.
The Australian quipped during the competition that he would retire if he won a Grand Slam title in 2023. The Australian participated in the World Tennis League last week in Dubai alongside stars like Novak Djokovic, Dominic Thiem, and Alexander Zverev.
In an interview with AAP, he reaffirmed that statement and said he doesn’t see himself continuing to play until the age of 30. He also said he wants to have a family by that time so that he can appreciate all of his hard work.
“By then, I wanted to be married, have kids, and enjoy my family while also reaping the rewards of my labour of love. Therefore, if I have a few more years like this, I believe I will say farewell. However, that’s still two and a half years away,” he said.
Nick Kyrgios responded that he imagined himself at the age of 37 having a large family with four to five children and taking pleasure in everyday activities like fishing and smoking a big joint in the Bahamas.
“Four or five children in a large family, possibly fishing in the Bahamas while smoking a large joint. But I won’t be working. I work enough today, but in ten years, I won’t,” he added.
The finest thing that has ever happened to Nick Kyrgios, he said in the same interview, is his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi. He also thanked her for inspiring him and pushing him through the year that served as his breakthrough.
